Currently seeking interim Producing Director
(March/April 2021-June/July 2021)
with the potential of extension beyond that window.

Colt Coeur is a young, highly-respected, Brooklyn-based theatre company.  Click here to learn more about us and our work.
Founded in 2010, Colt Coeur has mounted 12  world-premiere productions, both to critical and popular acclaim, and operates under the leadership of Artistic Director Adrienne Campbell-Holt and Managing Director Bailey Williams.

Colt Coeur is seeking to add a third member to our leadership team (to work in tandem with the Artistic Director and the Managing Director) for our Spring/Summer 2021 Virtual Season with the goal of making the position permanent. The position will begin in March/April 2021.

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as Producing Director. This position will be a senior member of the Artistic Staff and will work closely with the Artistic Director and Managing Director to help shape all artistic programming as well as the development of new work and new artists at Colt Coeur.

The Producing Director will work part-time approximately 10 hours a week at $25/hour (total monthly fee of $1000). All members of the leadership team are compensated equally. The Producing Director understands that Colt Coeur is a seasonal employer and therefore requires mutual flexibility. Some weeks (i.e. in production, during end-of-year fundraising, during the Education Initiative) the time commitment will likely be higher; some weeks (i.e. during the holidays, late summer, periods of programmatic inactivity) will be lower. We are committed to working with the Producing Director to create a manageable, consistent schedule based on mutual needs.

Their duties and responsibilities are as follows this spring:

  • Act as producer in all aspects of virtual season’s production, including hiring, contracts, company management, ticketing, marketing and house management. Work with Managing Director on budget management, working with the AEA, and payroll.

  • Participating in and leading talkbacks, instagram lives, panels and other community outreach activities connected to Parity Plays Festival, Play Hotel developmental readings, and virtual programming.

  • Work closely with AD and MD on season and budget planning, including reading and scouting for new talent, grant-writing, and artist development.

  • Attend all community meetings (every other month) and Board meetings (quarterly).

Beginning in the fall (or whenever in-person programming resumes):

  • Act as Mainstage production’s co-producer (on a rotating basis with AD and MD). Work with line producer in all aspects of show production, including budget management, payroll, hiring, contracts, company management, venue liaison, marketing, ticketing, and house management.

  • Participating in and leading talkbacks, panels and other community outreach activities connected to Parity Plays Festival, Play Hotel developmental readings, and all Mainstage programming (1-3 productions/year).

  • Co-lead the yearly Education Initiative. This includes all administration leading up to the week, such as recruitment of students, student leaders, and teachers from the CoCo company, managing the curriculum, hiring and managing staff, and coordinating with the venue where the final performance is presented. (This program has been offered annually for 11 years so solid scaffolding re: curriculum, outreach, etc exists already.)

  • Lead the Mentorship Program. This includes coordinating with mentors and mentees, facilitating monthly large-group meetings, identifying students for inclusion in the program. (Mentorship program operates twice annually, in 2 10-week sessions.)

  • Increase community engagement. This includes recruitment for our Education Initiative and Mentorship Program, curation and management of pre-, post-show and special events for Mainstage season as well as Parity Plays Fest, and audience outreach.

  • With AD and MD, plan and attend annual Holiday party, company retreat, and annual Benefit.
